About Us

Who is Eligible to Join

Progressive Credit union is an open-charter credit union under the Supervision of the New York State Banking Department. By our charter, only natural persons or credit unions are eligible for membership. Businesses, organizations or clubs are not eligible to join. In order to become a member, an individual or credit union needs to be recommended by another member.

Membership Makes you an Owner for Life

When you join Progressive Credit Union, the first account you open is a Share Savings Account. It is referred to as "share Savings Account” because as a cooperative financial Association, members own the credit union. Your initial deposit to open a Share Savings Account represents your “share of ownership." A low deposit of $10.00 plus a $2.50 membership fee establishes your account.

As part owner of the credit union, you have full access to the many convenient and money-saving products and services that we offer. Membership in Progressive Credit Union is a benefit available to you for a lifetime, even if you relocate anywhere in the world.

Your Money is Safe

The saftety of your money is an important consideration when you evaluate any financial institution. At Progressive Credit Union, you can be assured your money is secure. Each member’s depost is insured for up to $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). This is an agency of the Federal Government. No one has ever lost a penny placed in trust with federally insured credit union.

People Helping People

We offer confidential, professional, courteous and personalized service. At Progressive Credit Union, the credit union motto of “People Helping People” is not some fancy slogan. It is something that we believe in and practice everyday.
